Cloud computing is poised to take over the world and dominate all business operations that rely on technology. After the recent pandemic generated a greater thrust toward virtualization, businesses had to shift their operations to cloud platforms. As more companies are moving to cloud computing platforms, it is becoming increasingly important that such platforms receive more updates to maintain a robust infrastructure.

Edge Computing

One of the most vital functions of any cloud computing platform is data storage and transfer. Edge computing provides quicker data transfer by storing data in real time at the edge of a cloud server. It helps in reducing the latency while processing and transmitting this data. Furthermore, increased security and privacy benefit any business on Edge computing.

Disaster recovery

Businesses always fear losing their data which would run them into significant losses. They are at risk of cyber attacks, system breakdowns, and data blackouts. Data backup and recovery functions have been added to the applications to facilitate the enterprise’s operations on cloud computing platforms. It minimizes the risk of data loss since a backup of all critical information is maintained and can be restored with simple steps within the system.

It is another great challenge for the cloud computing industry to tackle in 2023. The risks of data fraud, leaks, and piracy, need to be addressed before businesses can feel safe to move to cloud computing. Major enterprises have been the victim of ransomware and data blackmail. Hence, cloud computing platforms must have airtight safety protocols to ensure client data security.

Cloud gaming

Most of us enjoy playing those graphics-intensive MMORPG games on our mobiles and laptops. These games are hosted by a cloud server allowing players worldwide to populate one fantasy land simultaneously. These games also need a higher bandwidth to run, but cloud computing has enabled players to enjoy these games without needing an expensive data plan. Since most of the data burden is on the cloud servers and players only access the data, it cuts down on the bandwidth a player might need to run such games.

Multi-cloud strategy

Combining shared and private cloud services help enterprises make the best of both worlds. The shared cloud platforms offer more scalability, cost reduction, and accessibility. The private clouds, on the other hand, provide greater security, control, and customization. This flexibility can be a boon for such data-driven businesses like insurance companies, investment companies, and banks.

Docker and Kubernetes

With the help of open-source container management platforms like Docker

and IBM’s Kubernetes services, businesses can quickly scale their applications according to their needs. These are secure platforms since the data is managed centrally from a singular source. Overall, Docker and Kubernetes are potent tools that help businesses improve their resource utilization and increase their scope of agility in a rapidly changing market.

Cryptography has been added to cloud computing platforms for more security and transparency. Here, data is stored in linked blocks maintained across a decentralized server. Businesses can benefit from this recent trend as it is a cost-effective method of storing large chunks of data within an encrypted server.

The IoT or Internet of Things platforms allow cloud solutions applications to run on almost all devices. It works as a bridge connection between computers and other devices to help with remote access and configuration options. It also reduces security risks, thereby maintaining a safe cloud environment.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

These are the two most popular technologies closely linked to cloud computing. Both AI and ML are cost-effective ways of managing large volumes of data. They are intuitive and can collect data seamlessly from open sources on the internet. Once deployed, it can automate significant operations of a data-driven business. Moreover, there is less risk of data breach and a greater scope for customized cloud experience.

These are the nine significant trends of cloud computing that will see major improvements in 2023. These improvements will no doubt revolutionize the industry and shape our future. Also, it is built on the ideology that the internet is a space for all. Hence, its open-source nature is vital to uniform access and transparency. As more businesses are drawn towards cloud computing, it will grow and reshape our economy. To sum it up, great things await us all!
